About Us & Our Board

Message From the Board of Directors…

The Board of Island Seniors, Inc. is so excited to announce a new name, Santiva Islanders, and a new location in the center of the island at the Gathering Place, where we will be open from 10–3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays,  starting August 1. Check out our calendar—we have a host of activities and opportunities at the Gathering Place to chill out with old and new friends, including our Coffee Bistro; aerobics with Mahnaz; Thursday lunches; social bridge, Mahjong, and other games; Page Turners book club; and more. And don’t forget our Monday happy hours a Mud Bugs and leisure lunches at island restaurants.

Escape the heat, bugs, and drudgery of post-Ian clean up, and come join the fun! We can’t wait to see you.

Board of Directors, March 2024

Officers

President Robin Christian (2024)

Robin Christian. My husband and I have been coming to Sanibel since 2013; we moved here full time in 2020. I joined the Island Seniors (now Sativa Islanders) right away to kayak and I was totally hooked on the organization. Such a welcoming,  inclusive, and fun loving group of people. In fact, its where I met many of my island friends and it was one of the deciding factors for us moving to Sanibel. Santiva Islanders is a true asset to the city of Sanibel. Covid and Ian have taken a toll on it, but I'm determined to help bring it back to its former glory--its just too sad not to.

Vice-President Katrina Wilhelm (2024)

As a full time resident of Sanibel, my husband, Dan and I, enjoy being involved with many island organizations. We hail from Nashville, Indiana where Dan retired from Cummins and I ran our small residential investment property company. We still perform some small business duties for our business KD Properties, LLC, in Columbus, IN.

Secretary Robyn Moran (2024)

Susan Talmage (2022)

I had visited Sanibel once before moving to the islands in February 2021. It didn't take me long to learn about The Island Seniors, Inc. where I made many friends and discovered the joy of kayaking. I started volunteering for the Island Seniors, and I later joined the board of directors, where I am currently serving a three year term. I recently retired from my clinical psychology practice. In addition to kayaking, I enjoy hiking, playing with my pups, music and reading. In general, I enjoy all the treasures and adventures of island living.

Laura Korn (2023)

My husband Bryant and I are full-time residents of Sanibel since 2021. I enjoy serving others and being involved in my local community. I have over 20 years of experience in serving on boards of various sports, church and women's social organizations both overseas and in Houston. I was also a long-time volunteer with the Amazing Place, one of the only facilities in the Greater Houston area that provides specialized programming for individuals with mild to moderate dementia. It was there that I witnessed the importance of socialization and engagement for enriching the lives of adults.

Linda Hines (2025)

I have served on several non-profit boards in the past (Honor Flight Columbus, International Field Studies, Lower Lights Christian Health Center) as well as my former employer MedFlight of Ohio where I was legal counsel.
