Featured Book: THE LACUNA by Barbara Kingsolver
Barbara Kingsolver's 2009 historical fiction novel The Lacuna blends fact and fiction to chronicle the life of Harrison William Shepherd, a Mexican American author. The story spans 1929–1951 and is told through diaries, letters, memoirs, and press clippings. Born in Virginia to an American father and Mexican mother, Shepherd is raised in various temporary Mexican households, including a coastal island jungle and 1930s Mexico City.
