A perfect activity to enjoy Sanibel’s great climate and waterways. Our kayaking program has space for 16 people in our eight two-person kayaks and limited space for those who own their own kayak. The Center supplies the kayaks, paddles and life jackets (required). It is useful to bring a towel for back support, water, snack, change of clothing, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses and a hat.
Cost: To be determine for members and for non-members per trip. Payment must be made when you sign up to secure your spot. Kayaking fills up quickly, so a wait list will be created in case there are cancellations. Each outing is led by two people trained in CPR and first aid, who determine the location for kayaking.
Time: Trips probably will start at 8:15 AM and participants, including those with their own kayaks, must meet at the Center unless prior arrangements have been made.
Kayaking trips took place on Tuesdays and Thursdays depending on the season. Those who own their own kayaks must register with Island Seniors 24 hours prior to the scheduled outing to join the group.
