Meditation

Meditation beginning December 20 and continuing every Monday

Full-Time Sanibel resident and Center4Life volunteer Cristina Shaul will lead a simple guided meditation via ZOOM for peace, calm, and clarity. No experience is needed. Please join us! The benefits of meditation for clearing worry, tension, and random thought patterns is well documented. A few minutes each day can soothe the nervous system into a more restful state. It can enable peaceful dreams, mental clarity, balance, and help us make decisions from a calm inner place. Meditation is easier in a group. Cristina will lead for approximately 20-25 minutes. She encourages participants to sit in a comfortable chair. The ZOOM camera can be on or off. Please join us via ZOOM on Mondays at 4 p.m.

Kayaking

Kayaking

A perfect activity to enjoy Sanibel’s great climate and waterways. Our kayaking program has space for 16 people in our eight two-person kayaks and limited space for those who own their own kayak. The Center supplies the kayaks, paddles and life jackets (required). It is useful to bring a towel for back support, water, snack, change of clothing, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses and a hat.

Cost: To be determine for members and for non-members per trip. Payment must be made when you sign up to secure your spot. Kayaking fills up quickly, so a wait list will be created in case there are cancellations. Each outing is led by two people trained in CPR and first aid, who determine the location for kayaking.

Time: Trips probably will start at 8:15 AM and participants, including those with their own kayaks, must meet at the Center unless prior arrangements have been made.

Kayaking trips took place on Tuesdays and Thursdays depending on the season. Those who own their own kayaks must register with Island Seniors 24 hours prior to the scheduled outing to join the group.

Senior Center Kayak Orientation Meeting

Tuesday, November 30th at Osprey Room in Sanibel Recreation Center

To those either already signed up to be a Senior Kayak Leader and/or those that have any interest in becoming a Leader, there will be a meeting on Tuesday, November 30, 10 AM.
The topics to be discussed will be Leader responsibilities, prerequisite training, and paperwork requirements as well as signups for new or soon to be expiring CPR certification classes. The C4L is hoping to begin kayaking activities sometime this December.
Should you have any questions, please reach out to Shawn Shaffer at 402-305-2813 or Fast2swim@aol.com
